The National Action Network's President and Founder, Rev. Al Sharpton, was honored at the High Level Side Event on Restitution, Return, Preservation and Renewal of Cultural Heritage, standing with leaders from across the African diaspora in the call to bring our history home.
Our President and Founder, Rev. Al Sharpton, was an honoree at the High Level Side Event on Restitution, Return, Preservation and Renewal of Cultural Heritage, recognized alongside heads of state, ministers, scholars, and advocates pressing the case that the rightful return of cultural heritage is a matter of justice.
Rev. Sharpton represented NAN, but he did not stand alone. Members of the National Action Network Board of Directors turned out in force, led by NAN's Board Chairman, Rev. Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson, who was there in attendance to support Rev. Sharpton and the mission of the movement on the world stage.
As NAN sees it, the preservation and rightful return of cultural heritage is about more than history. It is about identity, dignity, justice, and ensuring that future generations remain connected to the stories, traditions, and contributions of those who came before them.
"The preservation and rightful return of cultural heritage is about more than history. It is about identity, dignity, justice, and ensuring that future generations remain connected to the stories, traditions, and contributions of those who came before them."
"We must continue the work of protecting our history, preserving our culture, and ensuring that what belongs to our communities is respected, remembered, and restored."
The National Action Network will continue to stand with communities and nations working to protect their history, preserve their culture, and ensure that what belongs to them is respected, remembered, and restored.
